Entry from: Copacabana, Bolivia Entry Title: "Lake Titicaca: From Bolivia into Peru" Entry: "Feeling thoroughly chilled out after nearly a week of hammock-swinging we decided that we really couldn't delay any longer and so hit the road once again. We decided to go to Lake Titicaca, neither the highest nor the largest lake in the world contrary to popular belief but still very high and very big. So began a rather tortuous days bus journey. We had to first get a bus back to La Paz then cross the city to get the connection onto Copacabana (a small town situated on the shores of the Lake). There was nothing specifically bad about it just the usual crazy driving, millions of people crammed in, inexplicable pauses in the middle of nowhere, bad smells, no toilet and so on. This one did have an extra bonus however of a surprise boat-ride once we reached the lake. It wasn't just the passengers however, it was the whole bus (see photo for proof). Our first glimpses of the lake told us that this was a very beautiful place evn though at this altitude we were absolutely freezing. It was sunny and reasonably warm during the day in the sun but in the shade or after sunset it was perishing. One of the first things I (Helen) did was buy a cardigan to wear over my fleece.
